As mentioned in our first installment, we here at X3O have decided to create an interview series – X3O’s Behind The Gamer. Every couple of weeks an interview with one of the professional gamers within the team will be released. Through this series, you will get to know all of the gamers within X3O, including our CS 1.6, CSS, Q4 and COD4 teams.

This week we will be talking with Robert “griM” Koster, the captain of X3O’s recently acquired COD4 PC team. Fomerly of Power House Gaming, griM and his team joined the X3O organization as one of the top teams in the country.

For those who don’t know your past, could you introduce yourself and give us a brief summary of your history as a gamer?

My name is Robert Koster I am 23 years old from Long Island NY. I started gaming professional in Medal of Honor being on the #2 ranked team in NA. I then moved onto the COD series and have always played at the highest level in every league. I've attended every major LAN since the series started and I don’t see it stopping any time soon!

With roster stability posing a problem for every top team, how much effort do you put into keeping your teams together?

Roster stability has never been an issue with my team. We may have changed names 2-3 times over the last 2 years but the core of the group has stayed the same for over a year now. We here at x3o become more then just a gaming team, we form friendships and that’s what keeps everyone loyal.

The Call of Duty series has always had a strong competitive community. Does competition play the largest role in your choice to play COD4 professionally?

The love for the game itself alongside of the competition itself keeps me coming back for more and more. A few of the top players from each of the series remain on the top of the scene and I love competing against them with each new game!

Is there anything you would want changed to improve COD4 for the competitive community?

The only 2 things that can come to mind that id like fixed for COD4 are that colors aren’t allowed in game with tags and of course id like to see COD-TV but I heard that its in the making and GaretJax is coding it as we speak!

Lastly, do you think COD4 has the competitive longevity other Call of Duty games have had in the past?

I know Activision is making more Cod series but I don’t think they are going to make COD5 for the PC, which gives COD4 some time to grow into something huge. Possibly another CS type game where everyone migrates to it as it grows into the #1 game in the world!
