Tonight we announce one of the major changes X3O Professional Gaming is making as we move into 2009. As we make plans for the new year, we say goodbye to Counter-Strike Source.

While there are many new things that X3O will be looking towards in 2009, Counter-Strike Source is not one of them. Today we announce the official close of our Counter-Strike Source division. Our most recent roster finished 9th in this past CEVO-Professional Season 7, however with the closing of DirecTV’s CGS League and no LAN events in the USA scheduled for next year there is no reason to continue supporting this game professionally.
Executive Director of X3O Professional Gaming Nick Fitz made the following statement,
“It is with great sadness that we make this announcement today. Counter-Strike Source has been with X3O for over a year and we have worked with some of the best players in the country, but it just doesn’t make sense anymore. While there are still thousands of CSS fans that will play the game every day, the national e-Sports scene and event organizers have shown over the past year that they are not willing to support events. I want to thank all of the players that have ever played for X3O, because without them we would not have the successes we have today. I also want to thank our sponsors for supporting our CSS division this past year. We do not intend on acquiring a future CSS division, however will watch the community closely for any changes.”
Below is a small tribute to the players that played for Team X3O Counter-Strike Source since its inception. We apologize if we have left anyone out.
