One week away from my 10th week! =D.
It's been a pretty uneventful week, but if you noticed, I'm no longer on the far right of the page! (Thanks Nick =]). I'd also like to welcome Colin "lectR" DeShong to the x3o family. He adds another great mind to x3o, and I'm 100 percent sure that you'll be seeing great things from him in the near future.
Anyways, I've been keeping up with the eSport Jones' of sort this week by just reading a consistent amount of Gotfrag and HLTV.org. I even watched the lo3 with djwheat this week (I used to watch EG everyday about 2 years ago). In addition, I've added the MLG forums to my daily reads and enjoy some of the stuff on there as well. In my opinion, console forums are almost exactly like the CAL forums in terms of sheer randomness. Otherwise it's been a consistant diet of Halo, IRC, school, and work. If you'd like to play sometime, add me on xbl @ KOR1KLIKEPESCI, and maybe we'll attempt to play Halo or GoW2 (I'm awful at both hehe). It's been a pretty mellow week, but hopefully I'll have a lot more to talk about for my 10th blog!
I'd like to wish the best of luck to our 1.6 team in their match tomorrow against iDemise on de_train for ESEA Playoffs.
u play halo? I could never
u play halo? I could never get into fps on console
good read sir! i also watched
good read sir! i also watched lo3 with dj-wheat. you saw that Evil Geniuses announced the pickup of WC3? What do you think about WC3 and Starcraft now in the USA?
good question, and in all
good question, and in all honesty I feel as this is a step ONLY for North American organizations, I don't see a huge following for wc3 in the United States because of this, but you'll see progression when sc2 hits shelves later this year. As for EG, it now puts them as the global competetor in multiple games which is something I thought wouldn't happen with the state of the USA's economy. Congrats Alex Garfield =D

I think you are right. USA
I think you are right. USA hasnt been able to really compete in any PC games internationally for quite some time now (other then CnC3 for wcg 2007). You can't deny that Grubby is one of the best Wc3 players in the world...but he isnt really FROM the USA. So yea event though a USA based organization has stepped out and sponsored european players, it doesnt give me the same sense of price and satisfaction in watching and rooting for them. EG's starcraft team on the other hand is from here, and i will definetely follow them playing through wcg usa.
It was quite a disappointment
It was quite a disappointment from me to hear EG's news because I thought it had to do something with CS. Nonetheless, as I read about Grubby and his team - it seems very acceptable and reasonable to make it a big announcement. At any rate, good read Travis.
EG made news about CS now -
EG made news about CS now - hanes out lurpis in. thoughts?
I think the current roster
I think the current roster (besides jordan gilbert) having already had experience with zet, it should bring another dynamic aspect to their game. I don't know if Corey Hanes was the issue or not, but we'll have to see in the upcoming weeks. It takes them out of contention for wcg which is unfortunate, but we'll have to see what the future holds. Either way, EG is becoming an international organization, which is a great thing for North America.
lurpis is a completely
lurpis is a completely different sytle of player then zet though. Just because he is from europe doesnt mean that they have the same roles on teams. zet was a fragger; he either entry fagged or LMS. He could turn a 1v4 into a round they won. lurpis has been a leader/strat caller for his teams for the past few years. Yea he can shoot, but he isnt the same role as zet.
Was hanes the problem and worth cutting, dont really know. will lurpis help EG become a stronger team, probably. Will EG be better now competing against USA and international teams, who knows. Only time can tell.
I know lurpis is a completely
I know lurpis is a completely different player, and obviously he's going to be there to take warden out of the calling position. The comparison was between zet and lurpis both being from europe, not their style of play =]
i think it will be very
i think it will be very interesting to see how lurpis plays with them and the grubby pickup...good things for esports imo.
for sure =D
