So here we are with another 501 w/ Tripletwenty (yes, I know it’s been 2 weeks since I posted “The Return) but with good reason, it’s been a pretty slow couple of two weeks in my opinion, but I guess the recent announcement of the ESWC making a return in 2010 would be the best/worst news I’ve heard in the 2 week span between posts. On the good side, the return of the ESWC brings back more competition to general gaming, and not just CS 1.6. However, on the bad side there are still teams missing winnings from previous years (Which will not be paid out by the new organization behind ESWC), and I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that I don’t really have the highest faith that the new company behind ESWC (DIP Organisation) will have higher standards than its predecessor when it comes to paying out winnings.

In other news, L4D2 and MW2 are a hit in my book, what about you guys? I’ve played a lot of versus mode in L4D2 and I’m really enjoying the new spitter class on the infected side of things, as well as the added gore and more polished maps. The new weapons are a nice addition to the game, but the ak-47 and other additions don’t seem to hold up to auto-shotguns still. For MW2 on 360, it’s definitely a new experience to actually enjoy playing an FPS on sticks instead of the usual frustrations (Halo 2-3). A majority of the guns are useless, as the famas and M16 are the only two guns being heavily used in competitive play, and the discussion of taking out stopping power for lightweight as the “red” perk is already being considered due to balancing issues. We’ll have to see how that develops though.
I haven’t really talked about 1.6 specifically since the departure of the now Complexity roster, but I am pretty excited for Dreamhack Winter this weekend, and I’d like to see who everyone has as top three going into the event. I’d love to see a good showing from coL and EG since it’s been such a long drought of success for the USA in the international scene across so many games that it’d be nice to see us grab a first/second place finish in a major international event. Good luck to both teams, and lets bring back a title to the states!
