Xbox/PC only?
Posted By: Sage | On October 8, 2006 - 11:09am |Hi guys...I'm new to the site and forums....was curious why there are no PS2 accomodations? I"m an avid Socom fan. True, the game is heavily flawed...but it is still a community experience and a fun game if you find the right people to play with. So, just curious....

ah, I haven't been in the location yet. I live in Towson, but work in Rockville pretty much around the corner from your location (that Papa Johns right near you is horrible!)
Anyway, I was just wondering because I haven't seen any teams or leagues for games like Socom. Maybe because most people play them online and not via LAN? I'm in a tournament clan, and we have trouble finding challenging competition...

I personally have not seen a huge market for competitive PS2 LAN gaming, outside of sports like Madden NFL. I know the community exists, but bring them out is a bit harder.
We recently did an 8 week long Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence tournament for the PS2, which was our first break into that field, and look forward to continuing in the near future.
Maybe you and your clan if they are local can help start to build the socom scene at x3o.

That is the problem, they aren't local. We have members spanning the states. Most of us are above 25, and there are some entrepeneurs in it, if you guys ever think franchising.
Do you guys sponsor teams? It could be a way to get your name out there nationally, since we will be entering more cash prize tournaments as we find them...so far we have won every tournament we've been involved in.
Example, we had a squads tourney involving 136 teams. We entered 2 squads, and it ended up being our 2 squads facing each other for the championship.
We are also involved in a community venture to start a league and tournament site.
Just a thought. Either way, I'm interested in checking you guys out, and may stop by Monday night after work and before football
