Saturday, 11/22 - 9:51AM EST Bracket Play | onFIRE Quick Predictions:
Semi-Finals : MiBR > MoB - 16 > 4 - MiBR will blow the lucky MoB squad out of the water and guarantee their spot in Germany (March 09 - ESL Grand Finals) quickly and easily...
Semi-Finals : X3O > Gravitas - 16 > 13 - It'll be close, but I think our new team might have the slight edge on our former team. However it really depends on the map, but nonetheless it'll be close...
Well we're about to head to the Convention Center in a few as I post this - HOPEFULLY I CAN UPDATE OFTEN FROM THE EVENT, but worse comes to worse, I have my amazing iPhone ;) - anyway here's a video from Day One - LIKE I PROMISED:

Saturday, 11/22 - 2:46AM EST
Well thanks to a great fan of X3O on IRC - jdudezzz - I remembered about the interview Andrew (dRew) did with ESL minutes after I arrived at the PA Convention Center. It's a good 6 or so minute iView about how Andrew feels about being a part of X3O, the CGS teams coming back, predictions for ESL (at the time of the iView, MoB/EG/Gravitas did not finish playing yet). Well here it is:
Friday, 11/21 - 10:55PM EST
Well just like the first day on E for All Expo, I was not able to do any updates whatsoever at the event. Aside from getting to the event at like 4PM EST, there was no instant internet access. Check out a few pics that Nick took with his camera - HERE. As the team has Nick's M1710, I won't be able to be upload the hundred photos or so that I took today until tomorrow. Yeah, I repeat, at least ONE HUNDRED photos.
Anyway if you don't know by now X3O.CS did well enough to advance in the second spot in Group B to bracket play tomorrow. Check out today's scores as well as information about the Upper Bracket Round 1 match against Gravitas HERE.
Tomorrow I will definitely look to update this blog as often as possible with PICTURES and of course WHAT EVERYONE WANTS - VIDEOS. Again sorry about the lack of stuff today, it'll be MUCH better tomorrow.
Friday, 11/21 - 10:57AM EST
Well I just landed in Phoenix, Arizona about 10 min ago and I now find out that the plane coming from Las Vegas was late so my departure towards Philly is DELAYED for 30 min. I most likely won't get to Philly till 4:30-5PM EST now. Hopefully I can catch at least the last x3o match scheduled today (vs. zEx at 3:00PM EST). Today's the one day that I hope an event is delayed or behind schedule :P. Nonetheless expect some great coverage related to x3o or not when I arrive at the Pennsylvania Convention Center :]...

Thursday, 11/20 - 8:19PM EST
Missed my flight by a matter of minutes. Summed up on IRC:

(17:17:10) (@x3o-s|confire`missedhisflight) 1-2 hour SECURITY LINES AT LAX

(17:17:29) (@x3o-s|confire`missedhisflight) i literally saw the plane leave -_-
Anyway I'm sorry guys, I should have actually went to the airport the recommended 2 HOURS before the flight. Nonetheless, I'm disappointed to say that I won't get to Philly until about 4PM EST so I'll be on overload mode when I get to the event. So yes, I will STILL CU@PHILLY!
Thursday, 11/20 - 5:11PM EST
Just about to leave my dorm here at CSULB to catch a mid-day flight to Philly, I'll prob update once I get to the hotel :)...
Thursday, 11/20 - 9:43AM EST
Woot, what a way to end a day/start off a day (about to head to bed lol, but it's 7AM PST over here in Cali :P). Anyway thank goodness that I checked my flight info just right now because my flight from LAX to PHX was apparently canceled (I still don't know why...) and luckily I was able to get it changed. Now I'll be flying from Los Angeles to Philadelphia directly with only a stop at LAS V-E-G-A-S (no change in planes like it was originally at Phoenix) from 3:10PM PST to (land at Philly) 12:25AM EST. And of course, CU@PHILLY :D...
Thursday, 11/20 - 8:51AM EST Group Stage | onFIRE Predictions *Subject to change as Group A still has one team to be announced shortly*
Group A:
Gravitas Gaming - The team formerly a part of team x3o will play in their third tournament under the Gravitas banner (their first being EM Montreal and second WCG Grand Finals - with decent placings, 4th and 5-8th respectively). Gravitas looks like they want nothing but a tournament win like their WCG USA National Finals victory over the top teams of the USA. They should continue to play solid and consistent as they have always been.
MoB Gaming - With the huge roster overhaul, no one expects them to do well enough to advance past group stage. Simply put, Gravitas and EG.usa are too strong for MoB to get anywhere past 3rd or 4th place in this group.
Evil Geniuses USA - With their fellow inner-organization Canadian squad not being able to attend, EG.usa will be the sole representative of the Evil Geniuses organization. With fairly inconsistent performances by EG.usa in the past few months, there is no saying how well the team will do in bracket play. Nonetheless no one expects them to not advance out of the group stage.
TBA - As I posted earlier, I expect the team (to be announced by ESL) to be Frag Dominant or NoPression.
Expected winners: EG.usa / Gravitas Darkhorse team: N/A - As much as I would to put MoB here, with their current roster that has quite a bit of fragging power, I don't think they have enough chemistry to do well enough to upset either Gravitas or EG.usa.
Group B:
Made in Brazil - The most prominent and successful of all Brazilian or for that matter South American teams, MiBR does not expect anything less than a 1st place and a slot to the ESL EM III Grand Finals after faltering in group play against MYM and e-STRO at the recent WCG Grand Finals (2008) in Cologne, Germany. If they don't advance past group stage here, let's just say - I don't think MiBR will EVER be the same, EVER. I expect to advance to bracket play, but it may not be as easy as some may think with X3O and zEx in their way. They're expected to do exceptionally well at this tournament where they are the lone South American team and without gold, I think there will instantly be a few changes to the team's roster.
X3O - Our very own CS team, with the addition of thoMz, has continued to improve by the day. The team formerly known as Paragon of Virtue did extremely well at ESL EM III Global Challenge Los Angeles early last month, taking 4th place in a tournament filled with quite a few top international teams, notably beating mTw convincingly and knocking our former CS team (now Gravitas') out of the tournament. Many may not place X3O as an automatic to take the second spot in this group, but I feel they have more than enough to get past zEx and even a run at slipping by MiBR.
The realisT projecT (formerly Revolution Sports) - No one really expects TRP to do well as they are at best a team that rounds off a top 8-10 list when talking about top North American teams. If they're lucky, they may get a win, but like everyone else, I don't expect them to do well at all, anything but them bowing out after group stage would surprise me.
zEx (formerly Guardians) - What a name change can do in CS, Guardians went from having less than 40 idlers in their IRC channel to nearly 200 after "changing back" to the world famous name in "zEx" (it used be known as Zebra Extreme, but I don't believe it has meant anything for awhile/now). Although some may look at zEx as a possible advancer in this second group, I feel zEx is still an underdog to both MiBR and X3O. With zEx's recent roster exchange of Vincent for GX, their chemistry may not be as well developed as needed to beat MiBR and/or X3O.
Expected winners: MiBR / X3O Darkhorse team: zEx - As zEx definitely has a possibility in beating world class teams with the talent on their roster, they will need to put all the pieces together if they plan to upset either MiBR or X3O. There is definitely that possibility though, the question is - will they cause an upset and live up to the "zEx" name or not?
Thursday, 11/20 - 7:48AM EST
Again, EG.ca is not attending and according to esl-world.net ESL will announce their replacement shortly. So definitely get ready for a slight change in the matches' schedule because of only 7 teams in 2 groups of three and four, there will be 8 teams divided into two even groups. My guess is it's Frag Dominant or maybe a Canadian team like NoPression. What do you guys think?

For the second time in two months, this is Chris "confire" Luong live on-site, this time in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! From the Philadelphia Convention Center, I will be giving you the latest updates from America's Video Game Expo, where the Electronic Sports League (ESL) is holding the Continental Finals for the Americas. In additional to my writing blog, I plan to include plenty of photos and as many videos as possible from the event. And of course, make sure to keep this page up on your browser all weekend.
